Making Events Accessible with Julius Serrano
At Multicultural Collective, we actively work on making our events inclusive and accessible. With that in mind, we got together with @juliusserranoofficial, accessibility consultant, coach and friend of our founder Andrés, and recorded a one on one session on how to make patacones, a tasty Ecuadorian snack made with green bananas. Watch the video here: https://vimeo.com/1207254296 or link in profile With the help of Julius, we've created this cooking video as a way to explore how we can make our events more inclusive for members of our community who are blind or have low vision. Andrés guides Julius through making patacones—a popular Latin American dish made from unripe plantains that are sliced, fried, flattened, then fried again until golden and seasoned with salt. This is our first attempt, and we'd love to hear your feedback. What worked well? How could we make future videos even more accessible? We know we can improve and hope to bring more accessible events in person very soon. Email your thoughts at [email protected] If you want to support our work, donate via tiny.cc/kohamc We are so thankful to Julius for sharing his time, perspective, and enthusiasm. Also we want to thank @debbie2033 for helping with recording and @aesthetically_smiling for help with the editing. We hope this is just the beginning of creating more inclusive experiences for our community.
